This reservoir drew and supplied water to the Yokosuka Arsenal. It was the first waterworks established in the city and is still being used to this day.
Hashirimizu Reservoir
In order to meet the large water requirements of the Yokosuka Arsenal, Verny drafted plans to supply water drawn from the springs of Hashirimizu. Earthen water pipes were laid in 1876 contributing to the establishment of a modern waterworks facility. Currently, there are water faucets in the parking lot of the reservoir that provide visitors with this drinkable spring water.
To everyone who is considering visiting Yokosuka
