Mt. Takeyama
Located on the summit of Mt. Takeyama at a height of 200 meters is Ryuchozanjikyoji-takeyama-fudoin. It is Temple No. 1 on the pilgrimage among the Miura Peninsula’s sacred spots. Every year, many people visit the temple to observe the Buddhist holiday, Hatsufudo, held on January 28. When Commodore Perry’s Black Ships arrived in 1853, a crowd of curious people gathered at the summit of Mt. Takeyama to catch a glimpse of the Black Ships according to records by peasants at the time.
