An ammunition depot positioned within a valley to reduce blast damage to the surrounding area.
Former Yokosuka Heavy Artillery Regiment Ammunition Depot Site
Deep within the Mabori Biological Garden are two brick buildings. It is believed that the buildings were used to store blasting agents for the Imperial Japanese Army Fortress Artillery Fire School completed in 1897. To reduce damage to the surrounding area caused by explosion, the depots were positioned in a valley. The thick, concrete walls constructed at the rear were used as a buffer against explosions and still remain to this day.
