Atagoyama Park
Atagoyama Park is the oldest park in Yokosuka and features a monument dedicated to Nakajima Saburosuke, a samurai official for the Uraga Magistrate’s Office who played a major role during the arrival of Commodore Perry’s Black Ships to Uraga and a well-known key figure during the Late Edo Shogunate (mid-19th century). Visitors to the park will be able enjoy a scenic view of the Port of Uraga, the land where the first steps towards the Opening of Japan took place.
