Japan heritage
In order to defend the capital, the Imperial Japanese Army constructed a gun battery group at Kannonzaki due its close proximity to Cape Futtsu which formed the narrowest channel in Tokyo Bay. Kannonzaki No. 1 Gun Battery and Kannonzaki No. 2 Gun Battery were the first coastal batteries in Japan that used western construction techniques and material. The area, now known as Kannonzaki Prefectural Park, is open to walks and gun battery tours.
